Singing Guide: Branded (TV Show)
Vocal technique, exercises, tips and relevant resources
Branded was a Western TV series that ran from 1965 to 1966. One of the most iconic and well-remembered features of the show is its hauntingly beautiful theme song. The series starred Chuck Connors as Jason McCord, a former army officer who was unfairly branded as a coward after surviving a massacre he could not prevent. The show followed his travels through the Old West, as he tried to clear his name while helping those in need along the way.
One of the most notable aspects of the show's production was its attention to historical detail, with the creators going to great lengths to accurately depict the clothing, customs, and general atmosphere of the Old West. Additionally, the show addressed themes of loyalty, honor, and redemption, making it much more than just a typical Western action-adventure series.
To learn to sing like Chuck Connors did on the Branded theme song, we recommend taking Singing Carrots' Vocal Range Test to discover your vocal range. You can then use the Song Search tool to find songs within that range, and begin practicing techniques such as breath support, articulation, and vibrato, all of which are covered extensively in our Vocal Training Exercises. Additionally, Singing Carrots' blog offers many articles on breathing, voice registers, voice types, and much more, to help you improve your singing skills even further.
